Can Desktop Scanners Handle A3 Documents?
Yes, some desktop document scanners can handle A3-sized documents, although the method depends on the scanner model.
Dedicated A3 desktop scanners can scan full A3 documents directly, making them ideal for larger paperwork, drawings and documents that need regular scanning. This includes models such as the Ricoh fi-7480.
Alternatively, some A4 desktop scanners can handle A3 documents using a special carrier sheet or scanning wallet. The A3 document is folded in half, placed inside the carrier sheet and scanned. Compatible scanning software then combines the two sides to recreate the original A3 image.
If you regularly scan A3 documents, a dedicated A3 scanner may be the more practical choice. For occasional A3 scanning, an A4 scanner with compatible carrier sheet support can offer a convenient alternative.
